3 takeaways from Jets vs. Steelers in Week 7

The Jets (2-5) lost to the Steelers (5-2), 37-15, in Week 7 on Sunday night in Pittsburgh. Here are three takeaways from the game.

Momentum before halftime
Towards the end of the first half, it seemed as if the Jets were on the verge of breaking through the Pittsburgh dam and gaining an unassailable lead. With 1:21 left in the first half, QB Aaron Rodgers, up 15-6, fired a ball over the middle of the field intended for WR Garrett Wilson, who was picked off by Steelers rookie S. Beanie Bishop at the 46- Pittsburgh's yard line was cleverly intercepted.

Bishop blocked the interception with one hand, thwarting the Jets' scoring chance. Instead, he gave new life to the home team, who scored the final 31 points of the game. QB Russell Wilson's first touchdown pass as a Steeler came five plays after the pick, with 32 seconds left in the half, when he connected with WR George Pickens for an 11-yard score.

“Going into this game, we knew momentum would play a big role, especially in the environment we play in,” interim HC Jeff Ulbrich said. “In these games you can’t give up on these plays because it’s a huge change in momentum. If you manage to do it, you have to fight hard to fix the problem. We didn't do that well enough. This has to be an opportunity from which we can grow and become the team we can be, because the way we have responded to the adversity is absolutely not good enough.

“I felt like the guys were fighting. I felt like the execution wasn't good enough. I felt like we were trying too hard. Sometimes that’s just as dangerous as not trying hard enough.”
