3 big takeaways from the Chiefs' Week 9 overtime win over the Buccaneers

Thanks to Patrick Mahomes' best game of the season, the Chiefs were able to close out Week 9 with a great overtime win over the Buccaneers. While Kansas City's defense ensured that Tampa Bay was able to tie the game in regulation time, Mahomes and Kareem Hunt calmly led the offense down the field and scored a crucial touchdown.

Fans saw a unique game compared to most competitions this season. Instead of a sluggish, low-scoring affair, both offenses performed well. Mahomes threw three touchdowns and Baker Mayfield threw two scores of his own, scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter and overtime.

With a crucial short-rest matchup against the Broncos up next, let's go over three quick takeaways from Monday's win.

The newest Chiefs WR quickly felt at home in his first appearance at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. After catching just two passes in his debut last week, he quickly established a dominant, comfortable relationship with Mahomes.

Hopkins caught eight of his nine targets for 86 yards and two touchdowns, including a great 35-yard pass between two defenders that extended a game-winning shot.

He then quickly took to social media to celebrate his great achievements.

This version of the offense seems revitalized. Travis Kelce turned back the clock again with 14 catches for 100 yards, Hunt managed over 100 yards and Mahomes enjoyed his best performance of the season. For the first time this year he didn't turn the ball over!

Hopkins is making a big difference. He's the best receiver on offense and this is his best chance ever to win a Super Bowl. For the low price of a conditional fifth-rounder, Hopkins may have already addressed the team's biggest weakness.

He doesn't have to score two touchdowns every week, but his mere presence increases the offensive ceiling. However, there is still an anchor holding the offense in place.
