NEW DELHI: Indian batsman Rishabh Pant produced a moment of brilliance on the fourth day of the rain-interrupted first Test between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.
As India recovered from a dismal total in the first innings, Pant unleashed a monstrous 107-yard six off Tim Southee, leaving fans and players alike stunned.
The spectacular shot came in the 87th over. Southee used the new ball to create pressure and bowled a long throw, but Pant had other ideas.
Regard:

The fearless batsman got down on one knee and swept the ball low over square leg, sending it bouncing off the ground.
Even New Zealand's Glenn Phillips, who was standing on the boundary, could only watch in disbelief as the ball sailed over the ropes.
Pant's boldness and power gave the Indian innings the much-needed impetus.
However, the thrill didn't last long. Just two overs later, the southpaw fell heartbreakingly short of a century bowled by William O'Rourke for 99.
Pant's dismissal came in the 89th over when he misjudged the bounce of the second new ball.
O'Rourke's attack gained unexpected momentum from a good length and surprised Pant in defence. The ball caught the inside edge and rattled the stumps, leaving Pant just a run short of his well-deserved hundred.
When Pant walked back to the pavilion disappointed but applauded by the fans, India effectively found themselves at 433/5. With KL Rahul also dismissed just before tea, India ended the session on 438/6, with a slender lead of 82 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten with 4.
